Information and Communication Technologies

What are information and communication technologies? It is the term for information technology that stresses the role of integration between unified communications (telephone lines and wireless signals) and telecommunications such as computers, software, storage and audio-visual systems, which can help users access, store, transmit and manipulate information.

 

To understand this better, ICT or information and communication technologies are the technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. Although there is not a universal definition, the term means all the devices, networking components, applications, and systems that combined, allow people to interact with the digital world.

 

In the past years, ICT have provided a vast array of communication capabilities to the society. This includes the Internet, wireless networks, cell phones, computers, social media and other communication mediums. Thanks to the ICT people can use these communication mediums in companies, enterprises and other types of businesses, but also in hospitals, malls, restaurants and in their homes. All these mediums can make jobs, schoolwork and other personal works look better and more easier and faster to make. For example, I use ICT when I search in the Internet the topic of an investigation that was asked to me in school. Another example, is the communication. I communicate with my family and friends almost every day thanks to the applications, like Facebook or WhatsApp, that provide me the power to communicate with them, as if they were right next to me. 

 

In conclusion, ICT are the technologies (devices and software) that help humans manipulate information through telecommunications (telephone lines and signals). These technologies help us a lot, by providing access to information and the power to manipulate it, they make our works better, more complete and easier and faster to finish and they help us communicate with other persons around the world as if they were sitting in front of us.
