ICTs  are technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. They help users access, store, transmit and manipulate information. We use ICTs everyday in our home, job and school. Some examples of ICTs used at home are: iPad: I use it to investigate information about the topics I see in school, to make activities and homework, to create presentations, graphs, slideshows, essays and other projects from school. I also use it for personal entertainment, to read, play the piano and interact with more apps. Computer: it makes me easier to create complicated projects like long essays and elaborated slideshows in which I need to include graphs, images, videos and links. I can easily see and transmit family photos and videos, draw and paint images at the same time and play some videogames. Information and Communication Technologies are used in many areas like education, medicine,   business, sports and much more. Basically, everyone uses ICT every day and sometimes we don’t even know it. Here are some specific examples of the usages of ICT in various areas: Education Teachers use many different programs such as PowerPoint, Word and Excel to create presentations for their students. Students use the Internet to look for information related to the topic they are seeing in class. We use computers and iPads in order to create activities that our teacher ask us. Business Employees bring innovations to the company and they make slideshows to present their activities. Analysts makes bar or pie graphs to compare the income won this month and the one last month. What is the Internet? It is a a global network system that uses protocols to transmit data through many types of media. What is a browser? It is a software program that allows users to locate, access web pages. Some examples are: Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Explorer, Opera, etc. What is a search engine? A service that allows users in Internet search for content through the World Wide Web. Some examples are: Yahoo!, Google, Bing, AOL, Ask, etc. What is a cloud service? It provides many IT services, like replacing in-house storage and instead backup with cloud storage. Some examples are: iCloud, Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, Mega, etc.

What is a network? A network is a group of computer systems that are conncected together through communication channels that facilitate communication and the sharing of information between users. Which are the types of networks? There are a lot of networks but the three main ones are: LAN (Local Area Network) MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) WAN (Wide Area Network) What is the World Wide Web? The WWW, or the World Wide Web, is a network of online content. It refers to all the interlinked pages that can be accessed through the Internet. It was designed in 1991 by Tim Berners-Lee. It is simply referred as “the web.”

My First Post

My name is Alejandro Payan. I`m 13 years old. What I expect from this class is to learn a lot of technologic advances that thanks to science they are created and that now are helping human beings to make easier their lives. I also expect to learn about computers, iPads and other technologic devices and their operating systems. I hope that this class is interesting and that it has fun dynamics for me to learn more fastly.
